The hut is in the northern part of the Alpe di Catenaia, in the municipality of Chitignano, at 970 metres.
- From Rassina (AR), follow the signs for Chitignano-Chiusi della Verna; past Chitignano, carry on for another 4 km to the locality of “Villa Minerva”, where you meet the forest road on the right (CAI path 025, CAI being the Italian Alpine Club).
- From the Pieve S. Stefano (AR) exit of the E45 dual carriageway, follow the signs for Chiusi della Verna; from the centre of Chiusi, turn left for Chitignano; after about 5 km downhill, you meet the forest road on the left (CAI path 025). After 1.5 km you come to the metal barrier, where you leave the cars.
The Rifugio "Casina dell'Alpe" can be reached in an hour's walk; any access by motor vehicle must be agreed with the manager.
Mains electricity, hot and cold running water, wood heating; on the ground floor: living room with a large fireplace, gas and wood-burning kitchen, fridge, full cooking equipment, toilet with hot shower;
on the upper floor two large rooms with fourteen beds in all, complete with pillows and blankets (sleeping bag/sleeping bag liner compulsory).

16 euros/night per person; from October to April a surcharge of 4 euros as a contribution to heating

130 euros/night from May to September
160 euros/night from October to April
From the hut you can also reach the Franciscan paths from Chiusi della Verna.
