The Baita "La Gallinola" is a mountain restaurant in the wildest area of Campitello Matese, far from the ski lifts and on the edge of the wood. Set at 1600 m in a small wooded hollow, it takes its name from the nearby Montagna della Gallinola that towers above it.
The chalet is a wooden building made of Norway spruce and Nordic larch, a quality construction to which great attention has been paid, so much so that it meets the highest standards of bio-architecture.
So much care has gone into the chalet that the contrast with the hideous buildings of Campitello Matese stands out very sharply.
It is worth going up to Campitello Matese just to go and see the chalet, for a family outing or a trip with friends in pure relaxation. The place is suitable for children, for whom some little rides have been set up in a fenced-off area.
Adults will enjoy eating local produce and traditional cooking. Inside there is a bar room and a restaurant with a fireplace.
The place is open to the public in the summer period every day from June to August and, in the winter periods and during holidays, by booking only.
